When you watch a slasher film, what do you watch it for? The kils, of course! The cool bunch of devs at Blue Wizard Digital Ltd. have taken one of our favourite genres and made a cute, if a little frightening, game where the player controls the serial killer and you must dispatch of all the teens and any appropriate adults nearby in order to teleport through the portal of hell to your next scene of carnage. Sounds like fun? You betchya it is!

Each ‘level', as depicted as a VHS tape, stars the same killer all the way through with up to 15 scenarios to play to complete the level. Your killer character will appear in the scene along with a number of victims. Using the mouse, the player can move the killer around the environment but the character will continue to travel in a direction until they hit the wall/edge or a piece of environment. Herein lies the challenge of the game. In the early scenes, there's probably more than one way to skin a cat move your killer so they may kill the teens but the further into the level you get, the scenes become that much more difficult with the introduction of obstacles and enemies such as water to drown in, fire to be burned by and policemen to be arrested by. The environmental dangers, such as the campfire and bodies of water, can be utilised to kill your victims rather than meeting them face-to-face to slaughter. By brushing past the victims, you're able to scare them and witness them run off in a direction that may lead them into a death of their own without ever laying a finger on them. Sometimes these are necessary methods to kill whilst other times it's paramount to avoid these 'accidental' type deaths in order to kill all the victims in the level. Once the victims are all wiped out, a burning pentagram will appear which is the only way to exit and officially complete the scene. There's been many times where I've killed all the screaming teens in a scenario but left myself in an awkward spot where it's impossible to reach the pentagram portal which means I have to replay the scene and find an alternative route to kill them off so that I may officially complete and move onto the next scene. Sometimes I'm stumped as to what the solution may be so Death kindly allows you to pay for hints and if you're really stuck you can pay 100 coins to watch how the scene can be completed before doing it yourself.

Slayaway Camp is lots of fun especially as a fan of horror movies. Making each level an actual 'movie' of sorts, labelling them Slayaway Camp, Slayaway Camp 2, Slayaway Camp 2.5, Slayaway Camp 3D and so on really pays tribute to the horror movie franchises we love. It's plain to see the inspiration from Friday the 13th and other horrors with the killer character changing between the different levels, one of which includes a clown – Pennywise anyone? Successfully completing a scene and the bonus kill game directly afterwards rewards you with coins which can be spent in the menu buying new inventive kills which is a great way to spice up any level and scenario, though it's completely random which kill your character will end up executing with the player having no input or control whatsoever. This isn't a bad thing. If anything, it's a nice surprise to see your kill in action when the game randomly displays it.

The slashtastic puzzle game is insanely cute and very well made with the bonus of a fitting soundtrack (did I hear a bit of Goblin/Claudio Simonetti inspired music?), making it an enjoyable game to dip in and out of or to play continuously. The game, which is available on Steam, also boasts Steam achievements as well as trading cards and partial controller support, though it's as easy playing with a mouse as it is controller with minimal controls needed. Slayaway Camp provides a challenge without being impossible to do (the hints/solution can always be bought) and really makes you think as you plan out which direction to move in order to successfully kill all the victims and reach the pentagram portal.

Any horror fan will adore what has been produced here and I'm sure, like me, they'll have a lot of fun playing the serial killer for a change. Blood, guts ahoy!

Slayaway Camp Expandrive 7 4 0. is a quirky puzzler that pays homage to all the great eighties trash horror films from Blue Wizard Digital. It essentially is a 3d slider puzzle where you must slay your way to the exit while not succumbing to the mechanization's of death yourself. It takes all that trash horror and turns it into something fun and quite funny at times. From such a simple idea, they truly did make a lot of content for a nine dollar game. So let's delve into what makes this game tick and get our hands bloody.

The basis of the levels is their scenes in a Horror movie. As you complete one film, the next opens up. The area where you select said films is called in-game the Video Store. In addition to being able to choose from any movie you unlocked to play, you can also do a few other things. So as you play the levels and complete them, you are awarded coins. You can then use these coins to unlock various gore packs, which in turn give you different kill scenes. Also, you can spend one-thousand gold to open up a new killer to use in the levels.

Now, after you complete a movie, you can go back and replay it as many times as you like. Plus, there are deleted scenes for each film after you beat them the first time. They are harder versions of levels from that film. I like this feature because once you get done with all the movies and 'beat' the game, you can finish unlocking stuff you have not unlocked at all. Speaking of the unlocks, there are currently four downloadable content packs you can get for the game.

Three of these add in-game content; however, the fourth gives you the soundtrack, artbook, and other non-in-game goodies. Of the three other ones, only the Santa Slay downloadable content added actual new levels into the game. However, all three of them do add new killers, each with a unique killer moves. The Santa Slay pack also adds in several new holiday music tracks Slayaway Camp style.

As with all games of this type as you get higher in the levels, they get more and more complex. However, I genuinely love the cartoony feel and approach the game takes. Like for instance, how you kill your targets and their hilarious reactions and expressions. One of my favorites is when they get started by you and run directly into a fire. Another cool thing is at the end of levels, and there is a minigame kill for extra coins that you have to stop the token at the right time on a line.

Bonus codes for slots lv. I talked about how cartoony the graphics were, but that's not doing it justice at all. It's like comparing an apple to an orange. It just doesn't work at all, so let's fix that, shall we. To me, the graphics are a cross between pixels and voxels. The way the devs and artists and other people who worked to make it what it is, did a fantastic job and fleshing out the look of the game. It may come across as cartoony and fun, but it is so much more than that.

Oh, and let's talk about the blood and gore effects of the game. For what the game is, they are absolutely delicious and in the right proportions. Well, in some cases I think there could be more, but that's my personal opinion. Otherwise, the blood and gore, as I said, are right for them. The sound effects and music are well-timed and placed. Especially for the kill moments like someone falling down a hole. Nothing is off time at all with the animations.

Movement is, even more, more straightforward than that. You press the movement key on whatever control device you are using, and you slide in that direction till you hit something or someone. If that something is a person, you either kill them or scare them into killing themselves. You can also end up killing yourself just as quickly if you are not careful. Also, most missions do not have any move limits; however, there is at least one like that every movie.

So to wrap things up, Slayaway Camp is a slider puzzler. It pays homage to all the great 80's trashy horror films. It has simple yet fun and possibly challenging gameplay, the graphics are cartoony without being overly so. The controls are simple and easy to use. The kills are hilarious as well as entertaining. So yeah, if you like an excellent funny yet entertaining and challenging puzzler, then Slayaway Camp is for you.
